To reduce the chance of contaminating our water supply, we have a cost-share program to permanently seal unused wells.  The SWCD can pay up to 50% of the sealing costs not to exceed $750 per well.  The average cost to seal a well in Pennington County is $600, however, each well is case-sensitive.  Sealing costs vary according to well depth, accessibility, and obstructions in the well.  Contact the Pennington SWCD office for more information.
