AgBMP Loan Program
The AgBMP Loan Program encourages Best Management Practices (BMPs) to improve water quality by providing up up to $200,000 in low interest loans (with a maximum interest rate of 3%) for a period of not longer than 10 years.
Who can apply? Farmers, rural landowners, farm supply businesses, and any septic system owner.
Have some water quality issues you would like to tackle? Then check out what an AgBMP loan can do for you...
What practices can be funded? Septic systems, well relocation and sealing, GPS control systems, flood control, planting and tillage equipment, feedlot improvements, shoreline restoration, variable rate technology, manure management, erosion control, wetland restoration, and other practices that improve water quality.
How do I apply for a loan? Stop by your local SWCD office to fill out an application form or download and email the form to your local SWCD office. Once approved, obtain credit approval from your lender. Finally, complete the project or purchase. (Make sure to keep all documentation required to show that your project or purchase has been completed.) You will be notified when you can inform the lender to complete the paperwork and submit it to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) for funding.
It's as easy as 1-2-3
